Today, Wednesday, Feb. 6, students at Wooster High School are participating in “Foundations in Personal Finance” curriculum in an effort to provide them with important financial skills.
As a result of a partnership with the Hayek Group which sponsored the curriculum provided by Ramsey Education, all comprehensive high schools in the Washoe County School District (WCSD) have access to the Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum.
In these classes, students learn basic skills including budgeting, saving, setting financial goals, and managing their money.
In 2017, the Nevada Legislature enhanced a previous financial literacy instruction requirement for Nevada schools, and in response, the WCSD and the Hayek Group worked together to bring this curriculum to WCSD high schools.
This curriculum can be used to fulfill requirements in mathematics, economics, family consumer science, business mathematics, and personal finance.
It provides students with finance skills that will prove beneficial to themselves and their families for the rest of their lives.
